Been Busy

We have had lots of snow and I have been busy in the sewing room - so this may be a long post today! Ken has continued to plow snow and say if we get more (which we will this coming Wednesday) he will need to find someplace to push it!! I will have to add some photos of the snow. It was a slow start - but January has clearly made up for any early deficiency!!

Here are the paper pieced bags I made for Christmas gifts. They came out  nicely. I was concerned that being hand pieced that they would not be substantial enough to carry anything of any heft so I threw it on the longarm and quilted it to a piece of muslin before assembly. The three recipients were tickled (I made two orange/brown ones and one blue).

After Christmas I was really on target - I completed the top made from the BOM from the local quilt store. It was already 60X90 before borders when assembled. I decided to add wide borders only to the left, right and bottom - leaving the top narrow. I was pleased with the borders - I inserted similar stripes and 9 patches in the middle that matched the sashing. The results were very decent!!

I also managed to complet a lap quilt, which I sent off to a former student who has not been well and had just lost her Dad. This was for "long distance" hugs - as she really needed them.

Once all these were done, I had three Linus Quilts waiting in the wings that others had made and another for a group called New Beginnings that help new Moms in a local community! I am getting better on the free motion on the Longarm but still need practice. I will have the start taking some photos of the quilting so that I can see what progress is being made (if there is any - lol).

Hope you are all staying warm and dry.
